Land Snail Fauna of the Sukolilo karst in Java (Indonesia)
Karst Sukolilo is situated in the northern tertiary zone of Java, Indonesia, which was formed in the Miocene to Pliocene (Balázs, 1968). It covers a 194.72 km 2 area in the northern part of Central Java, mainly in Grobogan and Pati Districts. The karst area comprises many hills (>10 hills/ km 2) ranging from 61-530 m above sea level (Ruswanto et al., 2008; Wacana et al., 2008). There is an urgent need for a survey of the land snail fauna of that area because of a threat by limestone mining.
